Custom Cutting
Custom cutting is the heart of professional granite fabrication. It is the process that transforms a raw, industrial stone slab into a perfectly fitted masterpiece for your specific space. Unlike prefabricated counters, custom cutting allows for millimetric precision around unique wall angles, custom sinks, and specialized appliances.
The Custom Cutting Process
Digital Templating: Professionals use laser technology to create a 3D “blueprint” of your cabinets. This ensures the stone fits perfectly, even if your walls aren’t perfectly straight.
Vein Matching: For stones with heavy patterns, digital software is used to decide exactly where to cut. This ensures that where two pieces meet (the seams), the natural pattern flows beautifully.
High-Precision Saws: Fabricators use CNC Bridge Saws or Waterjets to carve the stone. Waterjets are particularly good for delicate patterns and complex curves because they use high-pressure water mixed with garnet to cut without heat.
Edge Profiling: This is where the “personality” of the stone is added. You can choose from many styles, such as a modern Straight Edge or a luxurious Ogee Edge
